A Stitch from Time Past: On Collecting Antique Sewing Boxes

 

For the March/April 2024 issue of the Magazine Antiques, we wrote about the sewing boxes as symbol, object, and tool through the lens of female architect Theodate Pope Riddle (1867-1946) and her experience as a woman at the dawn of the 19th century walking the line between living in tradition and collecting the ephemera that links us to the past.
